Be greeted at the Landing Lake Tarawera lake edge by a local Maori guide and unique Maori Waka (canoe). The Waka is a culturally significant part of the history of the Maori people. Learn the skills to paddle and navigate these traditional crafts in the calm waters of Kotukutuku Bay.
Paddling provides guests with an interactive and educational Waka experience involving chants, salutes, different paddle techniques and stories from past. For sports, educational, conference and incentive groups this is a great teambuilding activity. Through physical and interactive methods of learning guests are able to experience first hand practices and traditions of a bygone era. After this unique experience wander to the Landing café for refreshments and relaxing dinner.

Waka Cultural Display, duration 1 hour
While enjoying pre dinner canapés and refreshments at the Landing café hear the sounds of chanting as authentic Maori Waka appears in the distance. View this mighty craft as it glides thru crystal clear water to the white sandy lake edge. Be greeted and welcomed with a cultural music and dance display, while overlooking the backdrop of Lake and Mt Tarawera. Afterwards stroll back to the Landing café for a relaxing dinner.
