The Landing, Lake Tarawera now has a fleet of self-drive pleasure boats. These vessels are perfect for friends, family or smaller groups who wish to explore the lake on their own. These self-drive Pleasure Boats are capable of accommodating up to 10 people comfortably. Outfitted with a captain’s station, wraparound couches and all weather covers, this vessel is very easy to operate.
All it takes is five minutes of tuition on how to operate the vessel and then you are on your way. A map of the lake is provided so you can visit areas of interest such as Hot Water Beach, Twin Streams and find the best fishing spots on Lake Tarawera.
Hot Water Beach is the gem of Lake Tarawera and is only accessible by boat. Hot Water Beach provides the perfect setting with natural thermal springs and lake edge swimming pools to enjoy. Hiring a pontoon boat is a very cost effective option to explore this magical area.
These vessels are perfect for those who wish to try their hand at fishing for trophy-sized Rainbow Trout and we can supply the local knowledge and all the fishing equipment to provide you with a best possible chance to catch these prized fish. Fishing licenses are available at an extra cost.
You are welcome to bring along a picnic and drinks to enjoy on board or choose from an enticing range of food and beverages available for purchase from The Landing Café.
Fishing rods and tackle, safety equipment, CB radio and depth sounder are provided.

• $125.00 per hour (up to 10 guests)
• Picnic lunch available on request for $25.00 per person
• Suggested minimum time 2 hours to visit Hot Water Beach.
