Meet your guide at the Landing Lake Tarawera. Depart the Lake edge heading across the sheltered waters of Kotukutuku Bay. Listen to the stories of the legendary Pink and White terraces as you paddle past breathtaking Twin Streams, shadowed with sheer cliff faces towering above. Visit Moura point the site of the pre-eruption Maori Village. Then continue south along the native fringed forest towards Te Rata Bay. Once at Hot Water Beach enjoy a refreshing soak in the naturally thermal waters and explore the geothermal springs. Depart Hot Water Beach by boat for a return trip to the Landing jetty.

Option 2 – Full Day Tour, including picnic lunch
Approximate duration 6 hours
Meet your guide at the Landing Lake Tarawera. After a short training session, depart the lake edge heading across the sheltered waters of Kotukutuku Bay. Your guide will explain the early Maori and volcanic history of the area. You will hear how the dramatic 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera destroyed the world renowned Pink and White Terraces and buried the Maori Village of Te Wairoa.
Listen to the stories of the legendary mystery waka that was seen days prior to the eruption, paddle past breathtaking Twin Streams, shadowed with sheer cliff faces towering above. Visit Moura point the site of the pre-eruption Maori Village. Then continue south along the native fringed forest towards Te Rata Bay. Head around to the sandy bay of the Te Wairua for a short walk thru regenerated native bush to the secret thermal stream. After your relaxing soak, head around to Hot Water Beach for a picnic lunch which can be enjoyed by the lake edge.
After reenergizing start your return journey back to the Landing Lake Tarawera.
